Sexual Abuse of Children in Churches

Anybody who gets on the internet realizes that sexual abuse is a significant problem and risk in churches of all denominations.  It seems that a new report of a pastor or church worker sexually abusing a child is a weekly occurrence, and most incidents of sexual abuse never get reported.

What Does it Mean to be the Roadway to the Future

It means we are working with churches and ministries to transform their view of security. Although many churches and ministries have only recently begun to think about the need for security, most of the thoughts about it relate to preventing active shooting scenarios. Churches and ministries need to be prepared to respond to active shooting scenarios, but the likelihood of a shooting at your church or ministry is quite low. CorrValues believes that prevention is at the heart of church security and ministry security. Prevention goes well beyond preventing shootings, and must include a focus on physical, emotional and relational security for all who are involved with or connected to you. We believe in the need to prevent damage to church or ministry property, and in the need to prevent physical, emotional or relational harm to those who attend or work for the church or ministry. We achieve this through security assessments and recommendations, training to identify those with harmful intent, and training so the church or ministry can respond appropriately to dangerous or damaging situations.

It means providing preventive services that achieve Physical, Emotional and Relational Security.

Physical Security
means bodily safety for all who enter your church or ministry. It also refers to protecting the security of the property, facility, and structure. We achieve this through providing assessments of your facility and security processes, and through an identification and monitoring process we call R.A.D.AR. The R.A.D.A.R. process teaches you how to identify people who may be in distress, or a threat to themselves or others, and how to intervene as necessary.

We believe that Physical Church Security is best accomplished through prevention.  Contrary to the prevailing attitude in the developing field of church security, we believe that you should not focus most of your energy on ways to handle an active shooting or critical incident.  Instead, we believe you should be prepared to handle emergencies such as shootings or critical incidents, but focus your energy on preventing incidents and accidents from occurring in the first place.

All of our services for maintaining and enhancing physical church security are designed to prevent accidents, injuries, disturbances, disruption and violent events from ever occurring at your church or ministry.

Emotional Security refers to ensuring that people’s emotional needs are met through their church or ministry. We teach church and ministry staff members to recognize emotional needs and mental illness, and how to respond appropriately to them. We provide Christian psychological services, which address brain dysfunction and chemical imbalances in issues such as severe mental illness, dementia, concussions and autism. Maintaining emotional security also requires that people know how to have a loving and supportive marriage and parent their children effectively, so we provide trainings for churches in these areas. Finally, the alarming frequency of sexual abuse in churches and ministries requires that staff members are appropriately screened in ways that are more comprehensive than simple background checks. We have the expertise to help you identify people who may be a risk to children and others in your congregation, and keep them from being in positions of trust within your church or agency.

Relational Security refers to ensuring that people who work and/or worship with you feel like your ministry is a safe and supportive place. We train your staff in ways to work collaboratively and supportively with each other, as well as work with ministry volunteers to ensure they are supported as well. Relational tension, racial tension, political maneuvering and other inappropriate situations or behaviors do not meet the Biblical mandate of "bearing one another’s burdens," and ensuring that the church or ministry is a messenger of God’s love and grace.
Destinations for your church security services:
  • Achievement of church security in the areas of physical security, emotional security, and relational security
  • Prevention of violent/destructive incidents
  • Development and implementation of a church security plan
  • Development of healthy families
  • Raising healthy children who will contribute to improving the lives of others and society
CV Ministries provides services that lead to the destinations described above,
as well as to the ultimate destination of healthier, safer communities and society.

"I have known Dan and Dave for some time and find their acumen to be right on as it relates to forming an effective church security team. These are men who understand Christ first and serve Him in this way due to their personal experiences and expertise. In cruising their website I see they now have brought on Tom Peterson whom I've known for years as a law-enforcement trainer. Together they make up a team that any security team would be glad to have used. I highly recommend CV Ministries."

"Just wanted to let you know that I was very pleased with the way in which you took time to listen during our introductory meeting, asked a number of key questions to help us clearly articulate what we were looking for, worked very closely with us regarding time and audience questions, and you delivered a most excellent product to Bishop and my brother priests!  Thanks for your great work and attention to detail and customer satisfactions."
